This town is situated at latitude 26030’ N and longitude 810 13’ E. This town is headquarters of Tehsil and District Lucknow as well as capital of the state. Old city is established at right side bank of the River Gomti but now a day’s Lucknow has been developing in all direction at rapid pace.
To control the haphazard land distribution, to regulate the unplanned building activities and to give proper planned direction to the growth of city Lucknow regulated area was established by government under UP (RBO) Act-1958 by government order no. 2P/37-50H/57 Dated 10.12.1958. The first Master Plan of Lucknow was prepared by Town and Country Planning Department, was approved by the state government and it came in to forced via government number No 3647/37-35 dated 21.01.1970.
State government has approved Revised Master Plan-2001 via G.O.No.- 549/9-A-3-92-8maha/86 dated 14.02.1992 and again Revised Master Plan-2021 was approved by the government by G.O. no. 1298/8-3-05maha/2005 dated 31.03.2005. Through the government order of “Awas and Shahari Niyojan Anugbhag-3”, ( G.O. no. 174/aa-6-09-01gathan/04 dated 27.02.2009) additional 197 villages of Lucknow district had been included in Lucknow Development area. 37 villages of these additional villages were notified in LIDA area. In 2014, 16 villages along the agra expressway were notified in Lucknow Development Area.
In the Board Meeting of LDA dated 19-02-2009 Town and Country planning department had been declared as nodal agency for preparing the Master Plan of extended area. Master Plan of Extended area was sent to the state government by the authority via letter number 394/vc/tp/2011 dated 21.12.2011. At that time, State Government had decided to establish the IT-City and other important development projects at Gajariya Farm land at Sultanpur road. State Government had sent back Master Plan to the authority vias letter number 1052(1)/8-3-13-308vividh/11 dated 05.07.2013 to incorporate the land-use conversion done by the state government for Gajariya Farm scheme.
In the meeting of Lucknow development authority dated 11-6-2014, it was decided to prepare Lucknow Master Plan-2031 in place of Master Plan-2021. It is also decided in the meeting that revised master plan-2031 will be prepared by including extended area as well as agriculture area of Master Plan-2021. Accordingly Master Plan 2031 is prepared and now it is effective by government order no. 1504(1)/8-3-16-308vivdh/2011 dated 19.12.2016.
