Jahagirabad city has developed as a Market-town. The economic activities here are mainly based on commerce and business. This town is industrially backward. Whatever industrial development has taken place in the city, it is in the form of domestic and agricultural industries.  Due to being less economically developed, the city, also lack developed from the physical development point of view. Whatever development has taken place in the city, it is unplanned and uncontrolled. Due to unplanned physical development, the problem of unbalanced distribution of various land uses and facilities is increasing day by day.

For the disposal of problems and planned development of the city, Jahangirabad Master Plan-2021 has been prepared by the Town and Country Planning Department, UP.  In this Master Plan various proposals have been given to meet the various needs of the estimated population of 90,137 by the year 2021. After receiving the objections/suggestions from the public, various government, semi-government departments and institutions on the said Master Plan, after detailed discussions on them, the Master Plan -2021 has been prepared.  

In order to prepare Jahangirabad Master Plan-2021, the passion and hard work of the officers and employees of the Town and Country Planning Department, UP is appreciable. This Master Plan has been prepared on the basis of the latest Ikonos Satellite image and G.I.S. technology,   In which the C.I Infosystem of Delhi has provided the required contributions and constant support from time to time, in the preparation of the Master Plan.
