Introduction of Development Area Fatehpur Sikri

Rich in archaeological treasures, the Fatehpur Sikri City is located on National Highway No. 11, 39 kms away from the Taj city Agra. Fatehpur Sikri Municipality was declared as Fatehpur Sikri Regulated Area along with its six villages by government, with the order of 9th / 37-3-80 V-74, Lucknow, 22th May, 1979.

For the purpose of providing a well-planned direction to the unplanned and unregulated development in the city, the draft master plan of Fatehpur Sikri city was prepared under the UP (Construction Works Regulation) Act, 1958, but in 1992 the Archaeological Survey of India issued notification no 1769 dated June 16, 1992 ,as per it’s provisions, the said draft master plan has been affected.

After this, the Hon'ble Supreme Court issued instructions, not to permit any new construction in the area 300 meters from the protected monuments in Fatehpur Sikri in 1996. Government Order No. 2397/9-A-5-96-86 DA dated June 20, 1996 and Order No. 4580/9-A-5-98-21 DA / 72 dated December 31, 1998 the Fatehpur Sikri Regulated Zone was merged into the Agra Development area.

In the order of the said, the plan for the Fatehpur Sikri has been redone, in which the proposals of the Archaeology Department and the directions of Hon'ble Supreme Court have been included. This master plan has been prepared with the aim of providing proper planning of the land for the proposed urban activities for the future population of Fatehpur Sikri city by 2021, by linking different land utilities with the well-organized routes, to give planned directions to the future development of the city.
