Aligarh is an industrial town which is known as ‘Tala Nagari’. National highway number 93 and 91 pass through the city. By the Government Order No. 2552 / 37-3-336 NK V./ 72 dated 13.11.1975, Aligarh was declared Regulated Area and for the above regulated area, prepared by the Town and Country Planning Department, the Aligarh Master Plan Government Order No 1272 / 37-3-87 N.K.V-77 housing section-3 Lucknow dated 04.02.1980 was approved.

Subsequently, in the year 1981, Aligarh was declared Development Area. Formerly sanctioned as the regulated area Aligarh Mater Plan, is currently being implemented in the Aligarh Development Zone. The said Master Plan has now been revised up to 2021 again, With the linking of the different land uses to systematic routes for the future proposed population of Aligarh and Harduaganj city areas, by 2021, the future development of these cities has been given a re-planned direction.

The Master Plan was given the final touch after inviting objections/suggestions from public, government and semi-government departments and after their disposal. I am grateful to all the members of the Town and Country Planning Department, Uttar Pradesh, Agra, Aligarh Development Authority Board, various governmental, semi government offices and aware local citizens who have from time to time, assisted in preparing this Master Plan.
