Introduction of Regulated Area Sultanpur (Sultanpur)

Introduction

Sultanpur is a rich historical city of Uttar Pradesh State in Faizabad Division of India. It is the administrative head quarter of District Sultanpur. It is said to have been founded by Kusha, younger son of Lord Rama and to have been named after him Kushbhavanpur (Kushpura) on the bank of the Gomti river . Sultan of Khilji dynasty has change its name as Sultanpur after defeating Bhars which is famous todays. The city is about 146 Km. east of Lucknow, coordinates 26027'N and 82007'E. Elevation is 95m (312 ft). Sultanpur is well connected by rail and road to major cities of the State and country. As data of 2011 census, the Sultanpur urban agglomeration had a population of 116211, with 61062 males and 55149 females and density 855/km2.

Regulated Area

For planned development of the Sultanpur City Uttar Pradesh State Government had declared the area under the border of Sultanpur Nagar Palika Parishad and Urbanizable area under nearby 44 revenue villages of Tehsil Sultanpur, District Sultanpur as Sultanpur Regulated Area by the notification No. 3312/XXXVII-3-86-5-RA/86 Lucknow, Dated February 28, 1987.

Master Plan's Status

Sultanpur Master Plan-2009 approved by Uttar Pradesh Government is effective in Regulated Area Sultanpur at present and its revision is under process
