Nautanwa is a Tehsil Head quarter of newly constituted Maharajganj District of Uttar Pradesh. This Town is situated on regional State Road no.1 of Gorakhpur Sonauli Nepal Border. There are not much historical references available about origin and evolution of this town. Later studies show that south most part of the town was known as Old Nautanwan which was a small village. Nautanwan is one of the best paddy producers of the Maharajganj Belt. There are three Rice mills and a mandi Samithi for Agricultural product. As it is a border town petroleum, machinery, cloths and other expert items are transported through this town. As there are a lot of Stone crusher in This town, Stone and bolders are brought from Nepal for building materials.
