Naugarh is the newely created District Head quarter of Sidharth Nagar, in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Naugarh is the entry point to Lumbini where Lord Budha was born and spent his early childhood days in Rajdhani Kapilvastu. Naugarh Bazar was developed by a Britisher of Birdpur State. In 1976 an excavation at piprahawa 22 K.M North of Naugarh revealed a Budh Stupa and building remains of the palace of Prince Sidharth and his father King Sudhodan, and it became a pilgrim spot for the followers of lord Buddha. Naugarh is famous for Kala Namak Rice which is of best quality in India. There are Rice and Leather mandis in the town.
