Introduction of Regulated Area Deoria (Deoria)

Deoria is a district Headquarter of Uttar Pradesh State in India. Deoria district came into existence on 16 March, 1946 being seprated from Gorakhpur District. It is believed that the name Deoria is derived from Devaranya or possibly Devpuria. According to official gazetters the district was named “Deoria” after its headquarters in Deoria. The term Deoria genrally means a place where there are temples, a place where god stays. During freedome struggle of India the district joined the struggle under the leadership of Pandit Bibhuti Mani Tripathi of village Dehrauli Rudrapur. Ghaghra, Rapti and Choti Gandak are the main rivers in the district.
