Introduction of Regulated Area Amethi (Amethi)

Introduction

Amethi is a rich historical city of Uttar Pradesh State in Faizabad Division of India. It is the administrative head quarter of Amethi Tehsil of District Amethi. In the past, Amethi used to be called Raipur-Amethi. The Tomb of great Sufi Saint Malik Muhammad Jayasi is situated here. The city is about 140 Km. east of Lucknow, coordinates 26.1550N and 81.8090E. Elevation is 100m (300 ft). Amethi is well connected by rail and road to major cities of the State and country. As data of 2011 census, the Amethi urban agglomeration had a population of 13849.

Regulated Area

For well planned development of the Amethi town Uttar Pradesh State Government had declared the area under the border of Amethi Nagar Panchayat and Urbanizable area under nearby 23 revenue villages of Tehsil Amethi then District Sultanpur as Amethi Regulated Area by the notification No. 2133/XXXVII-3-83-59 -N.K.V.-82 Lucknow, Dated August 11, 1983.

Master Plan's Status

Amethi Master Plan-2001 approved by Uttar Pradesh Government is effective in Regulated Area Amethi at present and its revision is under process.
